Garmin Index Smart Scale
Having a fitness tracker on your wrist is nice to have, the comfort and ease makes it easy for you to always keep track of your health. However, another way to track your health is the smart scale. Garmin's smart scale with connected features gives you a way to bring all your body metrics together -- weight, body fat, body mass, and more. You can always pair WiFi and Bluetooth to your scale with the same app your Garmin fitness tracker uses. All your fitness and body information at one place.

Gamin appears to do a good job with privacy and security. They ask for consent to use your de-identified data for product improvement and analytics. However, it does send your weight, BMI, and other biometric data to an app. Although unlikely, if someone happened to get into the details of your app, they would be able to see your body metrics.
How Does It Share Your Data?
With your consent, Garmin can use de-identified data for product improvement and analytics. Garmin strips your data of personal information and then combines it with other user data.
- Garmin is secure and private, and manages its security vulnerabilities with quick response.
- Garmin has a privacy page that is in simple language.
- Garmin keeps biometric data on you, and there is always a possibility that your data may be taken.
- But it is unlikely, Garmin seems to do a good job with security.
Garmin was recently the target of a ransomware attack which locked all user information until a ransom was paid. While it does not appear any information was stolen in this attack, it proves that Garmin may not be the most secure company to have copies of yours or your child's personal information. Use this product with extreme caution.
