Final Thoughts

The Osmo Explorer Starter Kit seems to be a great way for kids to learn basic STEM concepts early. However, there are some privacy concerns given it is not clear if the app is encrypted or receives security updates. The kit itself should be safe given it is mainly physical, but the app security will be dependent solely on the iPad or the Fire tablet it is installed on if there is no included encryption. Consider if you want your child having access to a potentially unsecured app.
