Final Thoughts

VTech has taken steps to ensure that only parent-approved actions can be executed on these devices. However, there is no information that suggests that the devices are encrypted or receive security updates, which creates a large potential for them to be hacked. VTech has already been the target of a major data breach in 2015, and it is likely this could happen again, given the company does not appear to have revised its practices. This could mean a hacker could have access to pictures and videos, as well as the activity data for your child. Use this device with extreme caution.
